You know ’em, you love ’em, you can’t get enough of ’em. We’re talking about our employees … those bellmen who treat your luggage like fine china, the front desk manager who remembers your name from your last visit, or that bartender who knows how to throw down the perfect pisco sour. That’s just us being us, of course. And today we’re taking our hats off to all our 8,000-plus employees out there because we’ve just been named to the FORTUNE 100 Best Companies to Work For list, an honor that’s based largely on anonymous employee surveys conducted by an outside company.

This is the sixth time since 2009 our employees have voted us onto the list, where we’re joined by some fantastic organizations. We’re also FORTUNE’s highest-ranked hospitality company in the United States, coming in at no. 11 overall (we moved up ten spots from last year). And we’re the only hotel and restaurant group to be recognized in the top 45.
This is actually a very rigorous process to go through … it’s the most in-depth employee survey in corporate America, conducted with the Great Place to Work® Institute, a human resources consulting, training and research firm. So we just want to take a moment to give a great big “thank you” to all our employees. Here’s a virtual group hug to all of you from coast to coast who make our hotels and restaurants the special places they are. Let’s all grab a pisco sour and celebrate (not all at once, though … we have guests).

Congrats. I travel to Washington DC frequently and I always prefer to stay at a Kimpton. The staff, decor and ambience exactly fit what I wish out of a 4 star DC hotel. This trip, I stayed at the Grand Hyatt for convenience to my destination. I had to endure 2 different plumbing emergencies and a room chnage. I hope that all future stays will be at Kimptons. The Kimpton dedication to guests and employees are reflected in my experiences at DC hotels.

Kudos to all of you! My favorite Kimpton employee experience: the Hotel Madera (DC) front desk clerk who took charge when I realized I’d left my cell phone on an Amtrack train. She was tenacious in finding the right person at the station to retrieve it from the car (fwhere I knew it was still sitting because of the Apple “Find My Phone App”. She stayed with it, they fouond it, and within an hour I was in a cab back to the station to retrieve the phone. AND she made the experience fun. This isn’t normal customer service — these are people who truly love their work and their customers. Thank you for being such a great place to work.

I recently had open heart surgery. Of course, we booked the Alexis in Seattle the night before, and enjoyed a wine that evening in the lobby. Successful operation!

Having stayed at a few Kimpton Hotels (and choosing them whenever I can), this award is very well deserved! The staff is always incredible! I work in corporate travel, but come from the hotel side of the business. I always thought if I ever went ‘back to hotels’, Kimpton would be my first choice because the staff embraces hospitality!
