Stretch out the Fun at a Kimpton Hotel Yoga Class

Travel Tips

National Yoga Month is here. (Everybody say “Om.” Aah, that feels better.)

Our hotels are dedicated to helping you feel well and good when you’re on the road, so this is an especially happy time for us. As it happens, we have yoga classes for our guests all over the nation.

If your travels are taking you to one of these cities, join us for some flex time.

Poste Moderne Brasserie in D.C. works it out.

Washington D.C.
The place:
Poste Moderne Brasserie, adjacent to Hotel Monaco Washington D.C.
The workout:
Limber up with “POP: Pilates on the Patio,” a 45-minute class held at 10 a.m. every Saturday from September 15 through October 6. It’s taught by prominent Pilates instructor (and former Poste employee) Chauna Bryant. Classes are $19/person and must be booked in advance at www.chaunabryant.com/POP.html.
The “wow” factor: Following your class, enjoy a well-deserved glass of complimentary sparkling wine from Poste’s award-winning wine list. Chef Dennis Marron figures you work up an appetite, so he prepares a healthy post-Pilates brunch menu, including choices like Chicken Paillard, Granola Parfait, Egg White Omelets, and more (food not included in yoga class fee).

Cupertino, California
The place:
Cypress Hotel.
The workout:
Yoga classes are held from 6:30-7:30 a.m. every Tuesday. Just call or sign up at the Front Desk in advance and you’ll be on your way to “Namaste.”

“Thug Yoga,” a series of postures set to hip-hop music, is held on the hotel patio at 10 a.m. every Sunday. Guests are encouraged to sign up at the Front Desk in advance; there is a suggested donation of $10.
The “wow” factor: Move over, Hatha. “Thug Yoga” is the creation of Courtney Smith, a local yoga teacher and snowboarder. Originally designed for her sporty friends who were intimidated by or couldn’t afford traditional yoga studios, it helps athletes prevent and rehab injuries, and improve their performance. Students flow through poses to the beat of hip-hop, building strength and flexibility, and laughing and having fun along the way.
