We’ve got something big on the line: The Angler’s Boutique Hotel in South Beach Miami. Yup, this gem of a property, originally built in 1931 — with two modern structures added later — has become part of the Kimpton family. And that makes us about as happy as Ernest Hemingway with a fishing rod in one hand and a mojito in the other. In fact, legend has it that Papa Hemingway was a guest and fishing buddy of the original hotel owner, who was clearly an avid sportsman.
The 48-room property, ranked number 3 on TripAdvisor’s list of nearly 200 Miami Beach hotels, is nestled in an Art Deco neighborhood home to a bevvy of restaurants and clubs. It’s also just two blocks from the beach — close by to the action but secluded enough to provide a romantic getaway. The Angler’s joins our three other South Florida properties: the EPIC in downtown Miami; the Surfcomber in South Beach; and the Vero Beach Hotel & Spa.
And the news gets bigger … and taller. Starting in 2014, we’ll begin development on a new tower at The Angler’s that will add 83 rooms, bringing the total number of suites and rooms to 131, as well as a new living room–style lobby and new rooftop pool. (Not that we’re counting, but this is the tenth project we’ve announced this year, including new hotels in Austin, Grand Cayman, Milwaukee, Palm Springs, Pittsburgh, San Antonio, Savannah, Sedona and Seattle.)
So that means more Kimpton style and service to go around for everyone who’s coming to Miami for events such as the international art gathering Art Basel Miami or White Party Week, one of the country’s preeminent LGBT gala events. Not to mention the caliente nightlife, the picante culinary scene and the LeBron James-led, back-to-back NBA champion Miami Heat.
Whatever is bringing you to Miami, the Angler’s Boutique Hotel will definitely lure you in.
