After a top-to-bottom renovation, Seattle’s Hotel Vintage Park is uncorking a whole new look — and a new name. The 2014 vintage is appropriately called Hotel Vintage, and it stays true to its wine-themed roots — or terroir, if you will — while being even bubblier than the previous incarnation.
The changes start in the lobby, where an artist’s rusted-metal rendition of a grape arbor hangs above bright, cozy furniture. Each of the 125 rooms has been refreshed, too … check out the time-lapse video to see the transformation:
It’s kind of like being in wine country, but without the country part. Right in the heart of downtown Seattle, the burgundy, taupe and green palette echoes the colors of a vineyard, and touches like vine designs on the curtains and recycled-cork art pieces above the headboards (there are a whopping 88,000 corks throughout the hotel) add to the atmosphere.
Make no mistake, though — this is an urban oasis. The Obsess in-room wireless media docking station, which connects your smartphone to the TV, is as modern as it gets. Still, there are plenty of old-school pleasures — like a good glass of wine. As at all our properties, every day from 5 to 6 p.m. there’s a hosted wine hour in the lobby. Here you’ll often run into the winemakers themselves, who are likely to serve hard-to-find vintages. (Check out the calendar to see who’s pouring certain days.) At least twice a year, each of our 12 Grand Cru partners, who happen to be some of the state’s most prominent winemakers, will be on hand to showcase some of the most satisfying sips that Washington has to offer.
And while we love our friends down in California — it’s where Kimpton started, after all — they hardly have a lock on valuable vino. In fact, Washington is the second largest wine-producer in the country, with more than 750 wineries, 350-plus grape growers, 12 million cases produced a year, and 30-plus varietals for your tasting pleasure.
That adds up to a whole lot of delicious Rieslings, Cabernets and more — and what better place to enjoy them than the delicious new environment of Hotel Vintage?
