Emerging from a winter of hibernation, TD’s Pop Up restaurant in Portland, OR, is back this month with all the fun food and drinks you deserve.
The pop-up restaurant from Tom Dunklin — chef at Three Degrees restaurant adjacent to RiverPlace Hotel — debuted in 2014 near Tom McCall Waterfront Park. And the concept of simple, approachable food at an outdoor bar was an immediate hit with locals, making getting a spot at the 10-seat bar a summer highlight.

While Three Degrees and TD’s Pop Up share a chef and a commitment to local farmers and purveyors, the similarities end there — the alfresco TD’s has a relaxed, resortlike atmosphere, luring passersby with the irresistible smell emanating from the wood-burning grill and the ideal waterfront location.
The running theme for the 2015 season will be “Tacos and Tequila,” with rotating creations giving diners five or six taco options to choose from and a few selections of drinks. The open-air restaurant is open daily from noon to 8pm and will run into early fall.
Chef Dunklin loves that his creation has a beachy, unpretentious feel about it, providing great food and great drinks in an easy, breezy fashion. When the heat is on and the water’s glistening, what could be better than some quality outdoor nosh during Portland’s season in the sun? Not much more, if the popularity of the restaurant last year is any indication.
