Hot Cocktails, Cool Patio

Eat + Drink

It isn’t warm in Washington D.C. this time of year. But that hasn’t stopped Poste Moderne Brasserie from keeping its courtyard upper patio open. In fact, the scene there is nothing short of hot, hot, hot.

The Mother’s Warmth cocktail

Chalk it up to the patio’s winter cocktail bar. All season long, bartenders will look Jack Frost in the eye and mix an array of toasty cocktails while sippers kick back with heaters and faux fur blankets.

Hot drinks include This Little Piggy, which is bacon-infused Bulleit bourbon with spicy cayenne chocolate, milk, and a toasted marshmallow. For a sweeter touch, there’s I Can’t Believe It’s Not Buttered Rum, a mix of Bacardi Select, compound butterscotch and gingerbread; and Mother’s Warmth, made from mulled apple cider, Pyrat rum and brandied cranberries. Dark spirits and fortified wines are also up for soul-warming grabs.

To top it off, Chef Dennis Marron has created a menu of soups, bar bites and fondues fit for sharing. (Hello, melted milk chocolate with graham crackers and marshmallows.)

Bundle up and we’ll see you there!
