The holiday season can often seem like a time of indulgence (heck, what’s one more slice of pie?). So why not indulge your philanthropic nature and give back this year on #GivingTuesday, Tuesday, Dec. 2.
Not familiar with #GivingTuesday? Check it out: This is a global phenomenon that brings together businesses, communities, charities — everybody — to celebrate generosity. And the best way to celebrate generosity is to give … and then let everyone know that you did. Tweet it, post it, chat it. It will inspire your friends and family to do likewise. And it’s pretty much guaranteed to feel better than a second slice of pie.
And to get a head start on #GivingTuesday, we’re giving a little something back to our guests: a discount of up to 20 percent. On Wednesday, Nov. 26, our Kimpton Karma Rewards* members will be able to reserve a room and save a big chunk of change. Then in the spirit of #GivingTuesday we’ll donate $5 for every member night booked to The Trevor Project, a nonprofit outreach and crisis-intervention organization for LGBTQ youth. Want to become a Karma Rewards member? Check it out right here. The sale will open up to the general public on Friday, Nov. 28, and end on Dec. 2.

But whether you’re making a reservation or not, be sure to join the #GivingTuesday movement. Begun in 2012 by New York City’s 92nd Street Y and the United Nations Foundation, #GivingTuesday has snowballed to include more than 10,000 organizations worldwide.
Need some inspiration on how you can give back? On #GivingTuesday, tune into @Kimpton on Twitter for videos of some of our employees and how they share the love with their communities. And let us know what creative way you give back to yours. Are you volunteering somewhere? Mentoring a young person? Let us know … you never know what you might get back by giving of yourself.
*UPDATE: Kimpton Karma became a part of the award-winning IHG Rewards Club program in 2018. Learn more here.

Hey, Ordy — We have you pretty well covered on the West Coast. If you’re going to stop in Portland, we have three hotels there. Next stop is San Francisco (our home base), where we have nine. If you’re going down Highway 1 or 101, you can stop in Goleta or Santa Barbara; then on to L.A. where we have two hotels on the Westside.
