Exploration Awaits at Kimpton Roatán Resort, Honduras

Destinations

Kimpton is adding to its roster of Caribbean gems in Grand Cayman and Grenada with sparkling turquoise waters and rainbow-colored corals off the coast of Honduras. Roatán is the largest of the Bay Islands and known as “The Gateway to Central America.” Home to the world’s second-largest great barrier reef—not to mention activities on land—we couldn’t be more excited to welcome guests to our new slice of paradise, set to open in early 2021.

A serene slice of tropical paradise: Kimpton Roatán Resort.

An Eco-Friendly Approach

Roatán is known for diversity both in its waters and on its shores. The rich heritage of the indigenous islanders known as Paya, descents of Africans and European pirates, will be honored with local artwork and artifacts incorporated throughout the five-star resort. We’re also committed to a sustainable infrastructure including solar technology, on-site water desalination and eco-friendly touches throughout the 126 guest rooms and suites, 6,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor meetings and events space, restaurants and oceanfront beach bars. Did we mention the expansive pool, fully-equipped fitness center and luxurious spa? There’s so much to love on property—and even more around the island.

Soak up the sky and sun at the resort’s peaceful outdoor pool.

A Roundup of Roatán

The Central American country of Honduras borders the warm waters of the Caribbean Sea. Located 40 miles off the coast, situated between Utila and Guanaja, Roatán pronounced (roh-ah-TAHN) is the largest of the three islands that make up the Bay Islands. The official language of the island is Spanish, but Caribbean English is the most widely spoken and USD are an accepted form of currency. The weather is pretty perfect with a year-round average temperature of 80°F, making it an ideal place for all the ocean and land activities it has to offer. Here are a few:

  • Bask in the white sand of West Bay Beach, one of the Caribbean’s most stunning beaches and the location for the new Kimpton resort.
  • Pack your best reef-safe sunscreen to snorkel or dive amongst the fish and corals of the Mesoamerican Barrier Reef.
  • Explore the island’s two main shipwrecks, the El Aguila and the Odyssey, with any one of the island’s accredited dive companies.
  • Enjoy sweeping views of the island and a thrilling trip through the jungle via zipline at Caribe Sky Canopy Tour.
  • Snorkel or swim out to iSoar in Halfmoon Bay and hop aboard this retrofitted sailboat with dive platforms and rope swings to jump from.
  • Book a Mangrove Tunnel tour to learn about this unique ecosystem and the surprising ways it handles the effects of climate change.
  • Pay a visit to Blue Harbor Tropical Arbortorium to explore 160 eco-friendly acres of tropical fruits and hiking trails solo or with a guide. Remember to bring plenty of water.
  • Strap on your helmet and climb into your dune buggy for an exhilarating drive through the lush interior of the island to the pristine beaches. Be sure to wear a bathing suit and clothes you don’t mind getting muddy.

Such unfriendly staffs for a first timer guest. Not coming back for your services and dirty rooms!

Would you offer daypasses for cruiseship passengers?
