Like a proud parent who posts her kid’s grade-A spelling test to the fridge with a novelty magnet, we here at Kimpton want to share some test results with you, too. Just think of this blog as Kimpton’s virtual fridge (minus the Disneyland magnet).
We’re so grateful and humbled to say we’ve received a perfect “100” in the 2014 Corporate Equality Index. This annual survey by the Human Rights Campaign Foundation tracks businesses nationwide, measuring workplace equality for the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community.
LGBT rights have always been a Kimpton priority, and in fact this is the 10th consecutive year we’ve aced the Index. And we were the first hospitality company to earn a 100-percent score back in 2004. In 2010, HRC awarded Kimpton its Innovation Award for Workplace Equality for our pioneering benefits programs, including transgender-inclusive, fully insured employee health plans and grossing up employees’ income to offset taxes from domestic partner benefits.
The real good news here, though, is the fact there were 303 other large employers around the country who also scored 100 percent. It was a record year for corporate equality. You can check out the 2014 findings right here.
So, in the spirit of the season, don we now our gay apparel and lift a toast to love, equality and perfect 100s.
