They say yummy things come in threes. We believe it after hearing about a trifecta of delicious – and entirely out-of-the-ordinary – dishes on our menus in Washington DC.
If you find yourself hungry in our nation’s capitol, order these originals.
Onion Soup Burger at Poste Moderne Brasserie
French dip meets French onion soup meets hamburger in Chef Dennis Marron’s indulgence. He puts a Virginia grass-fed beef patty on an onion bun and slathers on mayo and caramelized onions from the restaurant’s French onion soup. Then he melts comté cheese over it and dips the top of the bun in French onion soup.

Foie Brat at Urbana
Bratwurst goes gourmet with this recent introduction. Chef John Critchley makes foie gras sausage in house, griddles it, then simmers it in cider. It’s served with soubise onions and finished with herbs.

Beef Tongue Pastrami at Firefly
Chef Danny Bortnick serves up an urban picnic with his seasoned, sliced specialty that’s served on a Yukon gold potato latke with housemade sauerkraut and horseradish cream.

Our verdict? Three thumbs up!
