FISHERMAN'S WHARF AND PIER 39
Our boutique hotel is in one of SAN FRANCISCO / FISHERMAN'S WHARF's most popular areas. Fisherman's Wharf, Pier 39 and the Embarcadero are a "must see" for any visitor to the Bay Area. From the early Gold Rush days, when ships would unload thousands of fortune-seekers, to today's fishermen unloading their daily catch on the waterfront, Fisherman's Wharf has played a prominent role in the city's history.
Fisherman's Wharf Sites
There's so much to see and do on Fisherman's Wharf, all within easy walking distance from our luxury boutique hotel. Walk right outside, and you'll find yourself in open-air patio of the historic Cannery, where you can explore charming boutiques and galleries. The Aquatic Park and Swimming Lagoon are also next to the hotel. Visit the San Francisco Maritime National Historical Park and Visitor Center, a 10,000 square feet interactive museum, featuring a Visitor Center in the hotel lobby, the Maritime Museum, Maritime Library, and the fascinating historic vessels at Hyde Street Pier, including the Balclutha and Eureka. Explore nearby Fort Mason, featuring a wealth of the city's early history. Stop in at Ghirardelli Square to see how chocolate is made and enjoy all the boutiques, gift stores and galleries.
Fisherman's Wharf is also a great starting place for other SAN FRANCISCO / FISHERMAN'S WHARF destinations. Take a ride on the famous cable cars to Union Square, or hop on a ferry bound for infamous Alcatraz. Sail to Angel Island, one of the last undeveloped islands in the Bay.
Pier 39 Attractions
A short walk along SAN FRANCISCO / FISHERMAN'S WHARF's Embarcadero brings you to Pier 39, a former commercial pier converted into a shopping and dining area. Look for the sea lions that lounge just offshore - you will likely hear their distinctive bark before you see them. Visit the Aquarium of the Bay and learn about the sea life beneath the waves. Visit the classic Venetian Carousel and watch street performers on the pier. Along the way, browse through the many unique shops with treasures of their own.
When it's time to return to the Argonaut Hotel, hail a pedicab or horse-drawn carriage on the Embarcadero, or stroll along the waterfront enjoying the incredible views of the Golden Gate Bridge and SAN FRANCISCO / FISHERMAN'S WHARF Bay.
