How We Got Here.
Bill Kimpton was an investment banker-turned-hotelier who became a pioneer in the hospitality industry. He conceived and developed the first "boutique" hotel in the United States, a welcome alternative to the cookie-cutter hotels of the early 80s. Thanks to Bill Kimpton's passion for service and innovation, we introduced a more intimate hotel experience based on guest preferences, personalized services and a sense of adventure. Each individual hotel had its own personality, unique character and distinct style.

Where We're Going.
Kimpton is in the midst of an exciting period of expansion and growth under the leadership and oversight of CEO and President Michael Depatie.
"The time is right to grow our footprint; we will have twice the number of hotels in the next five years," says Depatie. "Our growth will continue to focus on urban locations and the preservation and restoration of old or historic buildings through adaptive reuse, a practice that has allowed Kimpton to develop and restore prime real estate at the center of bustling urban locations."

- Opportunities Are Everywhere.
Kimpton continues to build momentum with the expansion of the popular Hotel Palomar style. New hotels have opened recently in Dallas, Miami, Arlington and Alexandria, Virginia. Other Kimpton properties are also planned for New York City, Chicago, Baltimore, Philadelphia and Los Angeles/Westwood.
- Thinking Ahead. Then and Now.
As Kimpton approaches a turning point in its pioneering history and expands into new markets, we are reaching out to new customers and into new travel sectors. "Our history of innovation and unique culture is what has truly set Kimpton apart for more than 25 years," says Niki Leondakis, Kimpton Chief Operating Officer. "Looking ahead, we hope to continue to impact the community, industry and world around us in a positive way, establishing a relationship that transcends the hotel experience."
